Winnifred Gobaldi and Byron Visser are not best friends.

Yes, they’ve known each other for years, but they’re not even friendly. Winnie considers them more like casual, distant acquaintances who find each other barely tolerable, especially when he's being condescending (which is all the time).

The truth is, they have nothing in common. She’s a public school science teacher with stars in her eyes, and he’s a pretentious, joyless double PhD turned world-famous bestselling fiction author. She loves sharing her passion for promulgating women in STEM careers and building community via social media, and he eschews all socialization, virtual or otherwise. She’s looking for a side hustle to help pay down a mountain of student debt, and his financial portfolio is the stuff of fiduciary wet dreams. So why are they faking a #bestfriend relationship for millions of online spectators?

When a simple case of tit-for-tat trends between nonfriends leads to a wholly unexpected kind of pretend, nothing is simple. Sometimes, it takes a public audience to reveal the truth of private feelings, and rarely—very rarely—you should believe what you see online.

Ten Trends to Seduce Your Bestfriend is a full-length, complete standalone, adult contemporary romantic comedy.

REVIEW
Rating: 4.5*

Winnie can't really stand Byron. He comes across as condescending, always correcting her and diminishing her career choice as public school science teacher. She loves her job and she loves creating STEM videos to inspire other girls to take up careers in the field. Totally inspiring. To take her online life to the next level, she needs to expand her offer and appeal to a wider audience. This means incorporating make-up, fashion and relationship challenges. Well, Byron is one that ends up helping with the relationship challenges.

Byron is a famous author but an enigma to the world as he doesn't give interviews, sign books or have a social media presence. He is very much a loner as he finds people too much. He has had feelings for Winnie for a while but hasn't acted on them not knowing how to pursue a relationship having never been in one before. Winnie challenges him but he is not always to process things quickly and has a tendency to disappear whilst he does.

I really enjoyed this book with it's smart characters who weren't afraid of showing they are smart. I loved how Winnie stood up for what she believed in to Byron and how her passion for what she does enabled her to change Byron's opinion. I loved Byron and how he was trying to step out of his comfort zone and with Winnie's support was able to. This was a great book with first class writing which I come to relish from Penny Reid.
