Savage Fire by Kathleen Kelly

Title: Savage Fire
Series: Savage Angels MC #2
Author: Kathleen Kelly
 Release Date: May 29, 2015

Emily Reynolds, estranged sister to Dane Reynolds, President of the Savage Angels MC, has just lost her father.  He was not a caring man and inflicted suffering on his family.  Dane abandoned her and her mother years ago, leaving them alone to deal with a brutal man who never showed any love or mercy.  Emily wants Dane to feel the pain she felt, she wants him to suffer as she did and decides to make the long drive to see him.

Salvatore Agostino, captain in the Abruzzi crime family is also on his way to see Dane Reynolds. A ruthless businessman, he is fiercely loyal to his family and his men.  A chance encounter brings him face to face with Emily.

These two meet and their attraction grows into a love that neither could have anticipated.

Will they be able to overcome the turmoil that awaits them or will their love be destroyed by forces beyond their control?

Rating: ☆☆☆☆

'Savage Fire' is the continuation of the Savage Angels MC story. If you have read the first in the series you will remember Dane, Club President, finding his woman, rock star Kat. The colourful group of characters that make up the MC are also back.

Dane's estranged sister, Emily, finds her way to the MC after the death of their father. He was not a pleasant man and Emily felt abandoned by her brother. Emily, though, is a little too innocent for the MC life, finding more than her fair share of trouble on the way. Thankfully for her Salvatore Agostino is around to save her life on a number of occasions but he is the captain of a large crime family. He is heading to Savage Angels MC to deal with them muscling in on his business.

We know that Sal is a tough, bad boy but seeing him through Emily's eyes gives us a whole new perspective as she sees him with the eyes of an innocent. Can it end well for them when they discover the reason for heading to the same place?

With danger never far behind them, this was a fast paced, action packed read. It's colourful characters will make you crack a smile, laugh out loud and shed a tear. I enjoyed the first in the series but this was a much smoother read. Kathleen Kelly upped the ante in this story and brought us a roller coaster ride from start to end.

I am completely overwhelmed. My core is on fire and I want so much to kiss him, to touch him. I feel sparks of electricity shoot through every fiber in my body and every nerve ending is screaming for release. I want his hands on me, all over me.

I put my hands on his chest and push him away. He’s too close, making it hard to form a single thought. I take two steps to the side to put some distance between us so I can speak like a human, not a lust induced zombie. “Yes, they towed my car and it’s in their lot. I haven’t really spoken to them about it yet. I kind of fell asleep on them…”

His face clouds over and he says, “You kind of fell asleep on them? What. Does. That. Mean?” He pauses between each word and growls them at me.

“Jonas took me to see Doc Jordan and he gave me something for the pain, but because I hadn’t slept in days it made me sleepy. I think he ended up carrying me to their clubhouse.” I realize how all this must sound. If someone told me that exact same story, I would be thinking the worst.

“Did they touch you, Amare?” he growls at me, his eyes blazing with anger.

“No, no, no! In fact, Jonas put a guard on my door so no one would go near me. Not that they would. I was safe, Sal.” Something crosses his face and he stares at me so intently that I look away and stare at the floor. He moves back into my space and lifts my head up. “Thank you for getting me coffee. Let’s go have breakfast and I’m buying. I think I shall keep you in my sights to make sure nothing else happens to you. I have never met a woman who allows herself to get into so many dangerous situations, in such a short space in time. You, my Amare, are a handful.” He moves away from me and does up his shirt, then grabs his jacket. He opens the door to his room and extends his arm. “Shall we?” he asks, offering me a smile that reveals his dimple. My core clenches again and I have to fight the urge to throw myself at him.

Violence shaped Callen Reed’s childhood. Special Forces forged his adulthood. When the woman he loves is murdered, revenge should be both simple and necessary. Love, however, opened his heart once, and may also have the potential to save him from the darkness of his grief.

The world lays both love and revenge at his feet. His choice, his consequences.

Before I can respond, his mouth covers mine solidly. The teasing, testing motions of his body from the past hours crumble. The intensity between us has me spinning, and the sensation of his steel cock entering me erases the rest of the world, blocking out my need to comprehend his state of mind. As he observed, my emotions and physical response to him are complicated. He demonstrates his understanding by offering slow, gentle caresses along my curves which build into heavy, desperate, grips along my entire form. His knowledge goes far beyond my physical needs. His eyes meet mine every time I need the connection. He takes a moment to hold my hand when my emotions overwhelm me. He kisses my neck with passion, and kisses my knuckles with romance. Then, when emotion gives way to carnal need, he takes my body higher, faster, and harder, only to gently hold me together so I don't fall apart from the crushing power. More and more time passes as he takes my mind, body and soul into a molten, pliable form which belongs only to him. He brings me to orgasm twice as he spends untold minutes making love to me. I wish I could figure out how to speak, but my eyes alone seem to find the way to communicate. Answering my unspoken words, he murmurs to me, "I already know." With no more words between us, Callen eases his body into mine again, and begins making love to me in a display of passion more pure and bright than anything I've ever known. The slow, subtle movement of his hips urges the smoldering heat in my body to flame. He holds my gaze while he moves with me. His fingertips trace wispy lines along my shoulders and neck while he watches me softly with undeniable love in his eyes. One tear escapes my eyelashes, pushed out to make room for the overwhelming emotion roiling inside me. He brushes his thumb across the tear and continues loving me in every way possible. When he brings me to the brink again, one final time, I lay below him in awe, in love, and wondering how I earned the privilege of owning his heart. We lie together, now holding tightly in our embrace. I'm near weeping at the sensation of bringing my body and my mind in sync more powerfully than ever. I never imagined love could be this amazing. Before Callen, I experienced love through the filter of clinical analysis. Occasionally I learned twisted ideas of love through the rants of violent criminals. But this…this is full-bodied bliss, wrapped in deep emotion and physical perfection. "I love you," Callen whispers as he tucks me against his chest tightly. "And now you see," he says, adding a tinge of sadness to his voice. An unease settles into me at his tone. I have yet to speak a word to him, and words continue to fail me. "You see who I really am," he says quietly. "I learn, I assess, I manipulate. I do what's needed...what I want. I take my advantage." Both fear and anger filter into my thoughts as I stare at him in disbelief. I say an internal prayer I'm misunderstanding his words.

Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

Lost is the word to describe Callen. His desire for revenge brings him into Quinn's life, who sees straight through his carefully created fa├žade and sees who he truly is. Revenge becomes more complicated and more self-destroying when it has to hit closer to home.

Quinn is the woman to help Callen find his way and back into the light from the darkness. It is not an easy road for Callen as everything changes around him. Callen's strength and determination to do it all himself nearly destroy him.

Callen lies somewhere between Mason and Ledger on the spectrum. His desire for revenge doesn't come at the cost of those around him. He is still aware of the feelings of those around him, putting their needs first. However, he is determined to exact revenge by himself and firmly keeps those around him on the sidelines.

Callen's story sucked me into his sadness and wouldn't let go as you hope that he will find the peace he is desperately wants and needs. Quinn's strength of character acted as the perfect counter-balance and his moral compass. All in all, another great read.

Mother of Two Boys...
My husband and I have been married for 17 years and are blessed with two amazing young men. They are 10 and 12 right now, and both are on very different parts of the autism spectrum. I’ve learned so much being their mom and I feel pretty lucky to have become part of a community of loving, understanding people.

If you’d like to meet my oldest son, watch Big Bang Theory and shake hands with Sheldon. Those two are so similar, straight down to the fake laugh when they recognize something is funny.

My youngest cannot be explained. He’s more of an experience, and a joyful one at that.

Romance Novelist...
I’ve always loved to write. I’ve written for newspapers and magazines, also a host of personal projects. Then in December of 2012 I was reading on my first Kindle, gobbling up romances left and right. That’s when I fell in love with Ethan Blackstone, by the way.

I was inspired to sit down and write. Less than one year later I’ve published three books, written another and its sequel novella, and started on two more. Another series popped into my head, as well. Now as of August of 2014, I’m on the verge of publishing book six, with at least five started or specifically planned. Since I’m sure I won’t update this bio for a long time, you’ll have to rely on my Facebook updates to know what’s going on with Kemmie Michaels romances. You can also subscribe to my newsletterfor releases, covers, sales, and other news.

Sweat caked my body. I shook even as I held my cell between my ear and shoulder as I waited for Adam.
He remained on the line the entire time he drove, talking to me, keeping me sane. I didn’t tell him about Eric. It would be better to tell him to his face and hope he didn’t freak out.
The sounds of tires rolling over crushed gravel met my ears. A few moments later, his tall, beautiful dark-caramel body came into view, and I crawled out of my cubby hole. Adam rushed over to me and pulled me in his arms. He smelled so clean, as if he had just taken a shower. I didn’t even want to know how I smelled.
“Are you okay?” he asked, cupping my face.
I shook my head and burst in tears. He held me tight while I cried.

We sat in the back of his car near the old entrance where a brick shed stored sports equipment. We were all alone, surrounded by long grass, weeds, and broken concrete that hadn’t been paved in years since the main parking lot was used in the front. The car windows were down, letting a hot breeze in. Adam wanted to take me home, or to his house, but I told him no. I wasn’t sure what I would face there. So, we suffered from the heat, or rather I did. Adam didn’t seem to mind as he held me in his arms and whispered in my ear.
I wiped my swollen eyes, staring down at my lap. My wrists and arms were covered in red from my sunburn, including a rainbow of new colors.
“Someone hurt you. Tell me who did this to you.” He rubbed the pad of his finger over the inside of my wrist. His thumb grazed the side of my hand, sending a tingle up my arm. I wanted to feel the same on my whole body, to erase the aftermath of Eric’s abuse.
“Eric and I had a disagreement about something.”
“Evelynn,” Adam murmured. “What did he do to you?”
He laid his palm on mine. The breeze whipped through the car. I closed my eyes, wishing I was lying on my bed in the cool darkness even with the annoying streetlamp shining through my bedroom window.
“He didn’t rape me if you’re wondering. I stopped him before he could. He found out about me and you, and he got very angry. He said awful things about you, and I flipped out on him. He-he…threw me on his kitchen table and almost—” I rubbed my face on his shoulder and inhaled his clean scent.
“You were at his house?”
I nodded. “I visited Tink’s earlier in the day to meet some friends. He saw me coming out from there, but I think he followed me. I was so stupid to think we could talk. He was being nice for a change. I went over to his house to have lunch, and he became mean.” I dropped my head in my hands and groaned. “I messed up big time, and I don’t know what to do.”
Adam rubbed his cheek over mine. “You can trust me. Tell me what’s going on.”
The moment of truth had arrived. I couldn’t lie anymore. “My cousin Jenn and her boyfriend were arrested yesterday on possession of drugs and selling them. They’re involved in a network of drug trafficking in the area where they sell not just to high schools but to the middle school and maybe younger. The reason I’ve been on and off with Eric is because he’s blackmailing me. He caught me dealing a few months ago in the parking lot of the high school. Unless I become his girlfriend, he’ll tell his father about me.” I shook my head. “I-I’m so dead.”
Adam stared out the window, pulling at his bottom lip. I scraped the side of my thumb nail where the skin was rough from all the biting and picking I’d done.
“It’s okay if you want to throw me out of your car and never speak to me again.”
He sighed, and I went to open my door. He drew me into his embrace. His mouth brushed the side of my neck, and he cursed, holding me until I turned my head and looked at him full in the face. Our noses almost touched. I pressed my palm on his head, enjoying his short curls and how they felt through my fingers as I tugged on them.
“No more lies between us. Okay?” He lifted his hand to my head, mimicking my touch.
“I promise you, no more lies. I’m all tapped out with my lies. I want to be more like you.”
“Like me?’ he asked, his breath a whisper on my mouth, a tangy scent I wanted to inhale.
“Yes. You’re everything I’m not. Honest, good, and sweet. You make me want to be a better person.”
“I think you’re sweet, but just misunderstood,” he replied.
“Misunderstood, huh? I’d rather just be sweet.” I moved closer, wrapping my leg around his waist until I almost sat on his lap.
He gasped and his mouth brushed mine. “Not quite good, but we’re working on it.”
That made me smile. He then gave me one in return and kissed me as I’d been dying for him to. He nipped my lips gently, prodding slowly, erasing Eric’s harsh kiss until I ended up panting, wanting even more of his kisses…his touch all over me.
“Hold me, please. I need you,” I whispered, sliding my hands beneath his shirt to feel his stomach and the muscles there that jumped under my circling fingers.
“I have you.” He sighed. “But we shouldn’t. You’ve been—”
“Hush.” I kissed him with a deep intensity and demanding hunger. “Don’t let me go. I feel clean when I’m with you.”
“I won’t let you go. Ever.” He pulled me against him, just like I wanted.
Straddling his hips, I locked my thighs around his until he moaned. His hands skated up my legs and higher until I gasped, dizzy and punchy as a tide of emotion brought happy tears to my eyes.
