Playing center field for the New York Kings, Jake Woodbury has one of the most prestigious jobs in all of sports. To the world, he's the good-looking, soft-spoken minister's son who’s survived celebrity without a hint of scandal. But, inside, he's reeling from a secret that seems destined to haunt him forever.
Scarlett Moore is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet, famous for singing about her celebrity ex-boyfriends. The CEO of her record label has carefully honed her provocative image since she was fifteen. Sex sells, and Scarlett’s well aware that it takes more than talent to stay on top.
One thing is clear: She’s the last thing Jake needs. And he’s the do-gooder jock she should avoid at all costs. But when the game begins, all bets are off.
REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Jake Woodbury is the complete opposite to the other New York Kings players that have come before him. Firstly, he is not a player; secondly his belief in God and helping others comes before his own needs; and thirdly he has a deep seeded guilt from events in his past which is preventing him from moving forward with his life.
Pop star Scarlett has had a number of men in her life and is not afraid to enjoy her life but she wants control of her career and the direction of her music. Singing at a Kings' game gives Scarlett the chance to showcase her true potential and brings her into Jake's sights.
This is a story of struggles and overcoming them. Jake in trying to reconcile his life and his belief in God. Scarlett in taking control of her career. An unlikely couple but one that works well as they help bring perspective to the other.
Another great instalment to the Kings' series that pulls you into the lives of the characters, their stories and the game of baseball.
