Review of "Crashing Back Down" by: Kristen Hope Mazzola

"Crashing Back Down" by: Kristen Hope Mazzola
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

Mags and Randy are college sweethearts who marry but never get the chance to really start their lives together. Randy and his best friend, Walker, join the Army not long after the wedding. He dies serving our country and Mags becomes a widow at 25. Walker and Mags have a hard time dealing with the guilt of trying to enjoy life without Randy and the grief of him actually being gone. They lean on each other for support and it soon turns into a romantic relationship. Just when Mags starts to find happiness and really live again everything comes crashing back down. This story tackles some heavy issues and I feel the author did a really good job of addressing them. To help her deal with the guilt and grief, Mags turns to alcohol and partying. We can all understand why she is struggling. I hope she finds a better way to handle things in the second book. She doesn’t have the best relationship with her family but finds strength and comfort in her friends and Randy’s family. There are some surprises and a cliffhanger that also contributes to the way Mags can’t seem to stay above the water. I am not a fan of cliffhangers, but I am excited to see what happens in the second book. We all know that these types of life situations can take some time to work through. I am looking forward to finding out what happens next.
