Review of "Show Me Something" By: Aubrey Bondurant

"Show Me Something" By: Aubrey Bondurant
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

One thing I have loved about this series is its ability to tackle mental and emotional well-being in an accessible way.

Here we have Juliette trying to find her way with her young son after leaving her emotionally abusive husband, who happens to be a dirty cop. Fearful that he may do them both harm, she runs with the help of her friends. She finds herself doubting anybody would be interested in her, ashamed of how she looks and of her past.

Mark, on the other hand, won't allow himself to get attached to anyone after the death of his fiancee: he feels he is unworthy to find love again and as though he would be betraying her. But he can't stay away from Juliette as they both try to overcome their insecurities.

I loved Juliette's lack of filter between brain and mouth when she is nervous - you get pure honesty, delivered in a humourous way. Whilst Juliette was, for the most part, vocal in expressing herself, Mark was very close lipped in terms of how he was feeling, which led to plenty of misunderstandings.

Grief has no time limit, neither does the hurt that comes from abuse but together they may find a way forward and find their spark again.
