Author: Monica Misho-Grems
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 8, 2022
Maddie, a budding romance author - whose first book made the whole author thing seem easy - is stuck. The words won’t come to her, and the page remains empty after months. With a pushy ex-boyfriend for an agent, Maddie feels the pressure as her new deadline quickly approaches. Having run out of ideas to get over her writer’s block, Maddie books a summer stay at a cute, quaint, little ranch on the Oregon coast. Positive that a change of scenery will do the trick, she sets off to do the one thing she’d never expected to do: become the protagonist in her own romance novel.
Lifelong rancher Jason Harper is struggling to keep his family’s ranch afloat. With the livestock industry hitting a rough patch, he is forced to dip his toes into another industry he knows very little about. With one final hail mary to save the generations’ worth of Harper blood, sweat, and tears, Jason decides to rent out his ranch for the summer, with hopes that Seaside’s thriving tourist industry can keep him on his feet. He had no idea that this decision would lead to everything he needed…and more.
Can these two desperate strangers find the help they’ve been in dire need of? Or will the sparks of a summer romance cause everything they’re working towards to crumble into the sea?

REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
After a relatively successful first book, Maddie has to deliver a second to her ex-boyfriend agent, who keeps changing the goal posts on her. She has a severe case of writer's block. In attempt to get her mojo back, she decides to take a writing vacation on a ranch. This is Jason's ranch. The surly, introverted rancher is the last person you would expect to be taking guests on his ranch but money is tight and he has a developer who is out for his ranch.
Being at the ranch gets her writing going again which is down to the inspiration of the location but more likely Jason. She and Jason grow closer but Jason continues to push her away at every turn causing heart ache.
I loved Maddie who grows in confidence in her time at the ranch. She takes control back of her life and her writing career. Jason starts to let go really slowly but is focussed on saving his ranch. Jason's constant change in temperature did give me constant whiplash but it was necessary for his journey.

Hi! I’m Monica. I write romance, not just any romance, though. I write romance that feels real and deep and has other fun and exciting elements to it. I love including other genres in my romance stories like action, suspense, and crime.
It all started with my love of reading. My mom used to read to me every night. I can’t remember a time in my childhood when she didn’t, until I became a rebellious teenager of course! This love of reading eventually morphed into wanting to create my own stories. I fell in love with writing at a young age. I started with fanfiction at the age of 12 and have been writing ever since.
As I’ve read other’s stories and have written my own, I’ve found it can be easy to let characters fall into societal stereotypes. I feel this is especially easy with female characters. They can so often fall into the Mary-Sue type and be perfect with no flaws or sharp edges or, you know, real personalities. Here’s what I aim to bring to you. Real, messed up, flawed, angry, hurt, traumatized characters.
As a victim of trauma myself, I aim to bring a real-life feel to my characters and stories. While this all may sound sad or morbid, that’s not all I bring to the table I assure you. These characters are also strong and independent despite their pasts, like so many of us are. Take a look at my work and see if you can relate or be inspired by the words on the pages, because you are strong and amazing and a survivor too!
Come on in and join a fantastic community focused on love, support, and equality. Your comments help keep me inspired and motivated! So, if you’ve got anything to say, say it! Thank you so much for being part of everything here. There are plenty of ways that you can become more involved. You can add me on Facebook and follow me on TikTok @monicamishogrems_author.
