So this is the start of the next stage of the Steele family saga, with the focus shifting to Brock Steele and Rory Pike. Brock is one of the three Rake-a-teers so has quite a reputation with the ladies. There has been a disconnect between the Steeles and the Pikes until recently when Callie and Donny fell in love. So we have Brock who doesn't do relationships and Rory who has just gotten out of a seriIous relationship with a woman. Neither are looking for anything long term but are drawn to each other time and time again.
In amongst the developing relationship, the focus shifts back to the mystery surrounding the Steeles' past and how it is on a collusion course with their present. We start to get a little more of the picture about who may be causing the difficulty and why but with the older Steeles keeping tight lipped, it is getting more and more frustrating for the younger generation to untangle.
I have loved this series and the twist and turns of the saga along the way. I have been surprised, I have swooned, laughed, cried, and had virtually no nails left after most of the series. That being said, I didn't feel as connected with this instalment as I have with the series to this point. What I found with the earlier parts of this series is that all the family were heavily involved in the story so the reader got to really know the characters before we reached their story. I felt connected to Donny and Dale because of their involvement in the earlier parts of the series. I felt as though Brock was parachuted in without much introduction and that I don't really know him as a character. For this reason I have gone back and to on my rating. I did enjoy the story and felt connected to Rory, having gotten to know her alongside Callie.
