Trust is fragile.

Mia Taylor-Black loves her job as the head of the River's End search and rescue team. When the children of the town start going missing, turning up unharmed in the forest, she starts feeling like someone is watching her. She's been there before, had a stalker whose reign of terror ended up costing her everything, and the idea of going back to that dark time in her life terrifies her.

Julian Black loves his wife but guilt over not protecting her tore them apart. Seeing his brother get a second chance with the woman he loves makes him hope that he might get that same chance with Mia. He knows it won't be easy to regain her trust, but nothing worth having in life is easy and he vows that nothing and no one is going to stop him from reclaiming his marriage

REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

So we are back in River's End - the small town that has a serious crime problem.

Mia and Julian are looking for a second chance in this suspenseful read. Mia and Julian are married but separated after a stalker who kidnapped and raped Mia left her traumatised and mistakes in the way they dealt with it together drove a wedge between them.

When a number of children are abducted, Mia leads the search and rescue team sent in to find them, whilst Julian is the deputy leading the investigation. Through working closely together the sparks fly between them once again. But can they forgive and move forwards together, whilst coming to terms with the trauma of the past.

Both made mistakes in the past but they understand what these were so hopefully not destined to make the same mistakes again.  However, the past doesn't want to stay in the past and could risk their lives never mind their hearts.

This brought the suspense and the tension right from the get go, which was balanced against Mia's experience and the emotions that come with it. Mia's strength of character made her stand out against the other characters in this series. I felt that Mia and Julian balanced each other out and encouraged the other to be the best version of themselves. Yes they made poor decisions in the past but under exceptionally difficult circumstances.  I did have an issue with the ending. It was a HEA and didn't disappoint but it felt that Mia's lightbulb moment felt that it came at the wrong time and there was more exploration of feelings to be had to bring it to that point.
