REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

For a small town, River's End seems to have a large number of murders, which makes anything based there a very interesting read. And an interesting read it was!

This book starts out horrifically as Renee has to endure through hell on earth and survives. Renee has always supported Will with his career choices and been there for him always. Will's career choices haven't been easy for them and his career as an undercover cop is particularly challenging. So all Renee wanted after what she went through was Will by her side supporting and helping her come out the other end. But his first reaction is revenge  and ensuring that Renee feels safe. I can appreciate this but he made the decision for her, which is totally not right.

When she won't take him back, he ends up as a deputy in River's End. This just happens to be the town where  Renee's mother lives and where Renee is returning to housesit for her mother. It appears as though someone has followed her there and killing random people in very specific ways as a way of getting to her.

Will will stop at nothing to protect and win her back. The second part will be an uphill battle as Renee hasn't been able to move past the fact that he abandoned her when she needed him the most.  This was an emotional rollercoaster of a ride as they try to navigate through their feelings for each other whilst trying to move past the past. I admired Renee's strength of character and she was able to rebuild her life. She still has her battles but she is winning more than she is losing. Will's protective nature means that he will automatically want to jump in and react based on what he thinks is best. There is being protective and there's being overbearing and a caveman.

This book didn't ease me into the story at all. I was dropped right into and knew I would not be putting it down again until I had read every single word. It was heart-breaking and heart-pounding. I was on edge pretty much throughout and loved it!
