He’s soft and gentle, but most importantly, I believe he wants to know more about me. He’s not asking to gain leverage or use it to his advantage, he’s genuinely concerned. And it makes me want to tell him everything. But the rational side of my brain tells me not to, so I reel in this strange impulse to divulge my secrets to a man I hardly know.

Elizabeth learned a lesson in life that you marry for money because love doesn't pay the bills. Elizabeth is married to Callahan Fitzgerald, she had faith that Cal could turn the economy around and get back to work. Cal is thinking about running for presidency. He only cares about his own pleasure and not about Elizabeth's. Someone broke into Cal and Elizabeth's house, so he hired security. Alex is hired to protect Elizabeth,when Cal's mother comes to stay with them for a couple of days, Elizabeth doesn't like his mother because she always talks down to her. Alex takes her hiking to get away from things.
Elizabeth is 29 years old, she comes from a poor family. Callahan Fitzgerald is a senator, he is a strategist, he is a very mean person, he is also a cheater, 36 years old. Aaron is Cal's chief adviser. he wants to use Elizabeth coming from a poor family to get poor people votes. Alex used to be in the military, he is a very nice person as well.
This is my first book by Rachael Duncan and it most definitely will not be my last. This book is very well written and the characters were very well developed. I couldn't put this book down. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Rachael Duncan is an Army wife living in North Carolina with her husband and two kids. She grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a bachelor’s degree in political science. After working on Capitol Hill for a short time, she realized that a career in politics just wasn’t for her. A couple years later, she rediscovered her love for reading and writing.
