Review
Rating:
Love amidst laps…
Amelia Baide is twenty-four years old and seems very young to have lived the life she’s already led. From the heights of winning silver at the Olympics when she was only seventeen, only a few years later she won’t go near a swimming pool. A tragedy kept her away from the sport she loved and running from a tragedy she didn’t remember. One she didn’t want to remember. Harry Jamieson was part of that past and knows full well what happened that night. He was a successful swimming coach but has lost a lot while struggling with his own demons. While no longer romantically involved, fate steps in to reunite them both inside, and outside, of the swimming lanes. Of course, life is not that simple, and the road to healing means they first must reconcile the past.
This full-length, stand-alone novel is a second-chance love story set within the competitive world of elite swimming. Amelia and Harry are both struggling with the hand they’ve been dealt and don’t always make the best choices. Amelia is engaged and the relationship is not an easy one. She is having doubts and meeting Harry again stirs the turmoil even more. Amelia’s wavering and indecisiveness, while bringing tension and drama to the story, is not always understandable. I enjoyed the writing style and the intimate look behind the scenes of championship swimming. I will definitely keep my eye out for more by this author.
