Review of "Vital Sign" By J.L. Mac

"Vital Sign" By J.L. Mac
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

Such a tragic story but with lots of hope that comes out of the depths of despair.  It is such a heart breaking story of love and life being snatched away in the blink of an eye and of second chances.

Two years after the brutal death of her death, Sadie is still trying to come to terms with the loss and the grief that is consuming her.  She is pushed on a journey that her parents hope will start the healing process.  Zander has been a second chance at life as a result of the death of Sadie's husband.  When they meet the healing process begins for both of them.

A lot of this story is taken up with Sadie's inner monologue as she battles with a raft of emotions as she starts the healing process.  Guilt, doubt, resentment, fear, happiness, loss, peace, contentment, despair.  For those who have lost a loved one will recognise these feelings and the all consuming, constant nature of them, which brings an intense reality to the story.  The intensity of the feelings made it an uncomfortable read at times, but it needed to be this way.  The fact that Sadie finds herself falling for Zander is an intense experience for both of them.  It is raw and emotional but it is a journey they must both go on together to confront their pasts and who they are to achieve their HEA.  I am an emotional wreck after reading this.
