"Locking You" by S. Donahue
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
Joella Soriano and Brendan Kirkpatrick are back in this second instalment of the series. A new crime for Joella to investigate as a Police Detective that implicates Brendan, her now fiancé. It is still a simmering bed of tension, betrayal and deception as it is not clear as to who can be trusted. Add in a rookie detective that seems to want more from Joella than a working relationship and an ex trying desperately to get Brendan back and we have a burning jealousy from both parties.
Joella and Brendan are a great couple together but not a perfect couple. They are a couple that have issues and arguments but they work hard on their relationship and work hard to resolve their arguments. Joella is certainly not a meek woman and will speaks her mind and gives as good as she gets, which is what makes her so likeable. Brendan is a man so obviously in love that his desire to protect her from harm is the cause of many arguments as Joella is more than capable of looking after herself.
This was a perfect follow on from "Protecting You" as it gave the characters the chance to stretch their legs some more and find their feet with each other, all the while working out their way through the wedding maze and trying to work out who to trust. A fast paced ride.
