Review of "Crown's Chance at Love" By: Mayra Statham

"Crown's Chance at Love" By: Mayra Statham
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

For me, this was a story about the journey the characters find themselves on as they discover each other and their feelings for each other.  It is not an easy journey for either Sabrina or Michael although for different reasons.  It is emotional yet at times full of fun and sweetness.

The story starts with profound grief as Sabrina lays to rest her husband who was killed by a drunk driver and contemplates the future for herself and her three children.  Tissues needed as you understand the incredible strength Sabrina has in holding things together for the sake of her children.  Fast forward three and a half years later, Sabrina is working as an Events Co-ordinator, providing for her family but still just getting through each day.  Until she literally bumps into the sexy Michael Crown and sparks literally fly and she begins to see a future with happiness again.  Michael, however, is carrying a secret and a lot of guilt that could drive a wedge between them before their relationship has a chance to develop.

Sabrina is a remarkable woman, with her ability to understand and respect others.  She has an awe inspiring capacity to forgive and a strength that is just humbling to read.  Michael gets a lot of credit for helping Sabrina to finally find peace for herself and to start to live again and he is incredibly sexy.  At times though, he did come across as selfish and childish but as you come to understand more about the man, you come to understand the reasons that he acts the way that he does.  He has a remarkable capacity to love and be happy if he can come to terms with the guilt that is eating away at him.

There were a few things mentioned that I would have liked to know more about but this was a fantastic debut.  With the current trend for short novella series, it was a pleasant change to read a full length novel and be able to immerse myself fully in the characters and their story.
