I Met a Boy

On
the way to the dinner table, I bend down to pick up my dropped
napkin, and John whisks my husband Marcus off in front of the group,
talking about something happening with the stock market. John works
in finance, and mutual funds. He clearly loves socializing, and
spends a lot of time doing that golfing with my husband and his other
friends.
I look around for a moment,
figuring that I might as well help clear up the room, as Pauline
quickly snaps up a dish here and there of sampled hors d’oeuvres.
And as I turn, I come face to face with Nicolas, who takes my free
hand in his, places his empty glass into it, and slides his fingers
away.
The
sensation of them is a dry, rasping warmth, and then the glass, damp
with the perspiration it collected sitting on a table somewhere. He
has an extremely sarcastic look in his eyes, which are so thickly
lashed they’re outrageous.
“Thank
you,” I find myself saying, realizing how stupid it is to thank him
for handing me something to clean up. He should have offered to do
some of the cleaning up himself.
“You’re
welcome,” is his reply, a slurring mire of mumbled language. He
speaks like he’s been dipped in black ink, and all of him seems
very dark and deliberate. As a lover of words, of books, I find his
sloppy diction awful.
It seems disrespectful, in a
bright, wholesome setting like Pauline’s drawing room.
So
I don’t say anything else, and I turn smartly on my heel and head
off to follow Pauline. But I remember the look in his eyes, and am
well aware that I remember that look from somewhere else.
It’s a look men get, when they
want something, and think that they can get it. It involves many
things. Obstinacy. Cruelty. Greed. Sheer, blind relentlessness.
Odd,
that a boy should be able to wear that look.
Passion. Decadence. Drama. Mira Noire doesn't pussyfoot around. If you're looking for the typical happily-ever-after with the same old characters - they aren't here. Mira writes visceral scenes that are so real you can taste (and smell!) them, and loves to feature flawed characters you may not always like. Like or not, you'll definitely love watching them, and hopefully enjoy following them on their intensely personal erotic journeys. Mira lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, loves to travel abroad, and has a B.A. in English from Stanford University. Visit Mira at http://www.miranoire.com to get to know her world a little better.
