Lisa'a Book of the Week: Wasted by Suzannah Daniels

Starting a new series is always a step into the unknown with the hope of finding a new treat and a new set characters we can fall in love with and immerse ourselves in their lives.  WASTED does this in bucket loads in a setting that gives itself to the telling of their story.  This is a fantastic start to what promises to be a series that will become a firm favourite.

Bartender Mason is a great listener but behind his chirpy there is a darkness to his soul that comes from events in his past that are both tragic and heartbreaking.  He carries it around with a huge heaviness in his heart.  When Lexi sits down in his bar, he starts to see light where there was darkness.  A friendship emerges that gives him hope.  Lexi's stable background is exactly what is needed to give him the chance to see a future for himself and Lexi.  Lexi gives him the strength he needs by listening to him to confront his past.

Lexi comes to town looking for a fresh start and finds herself in Mason's bar and soon behind the bar learning the tricks of the trade.  Her down to earth nature is grounding and enables her to quickly develop a friendship with Mason.  It is this that is her strength and it is this that helps create a trusting relationship with Mason.  But with secrets on both sides, will their relationship be strong enough to survive?

I absolutely loved this story and fell completely in love with the characters and their lives.  Lexi's strength and down to earth nature is a breathe of fresh air and combined with Mason's vulnerability makes for a potent story.

Here's to lots more Whiskey Nights.
