Review

Rating ☆☆☆.5

Morgan: A Witch’s Tale was an interesting read. I felt that it was written as something that I would watch as part of a tv series. Morgan is a very strong leader of her family and coven. Some might say bossy but that isn’t a bad thing as a leader needs to lead. The story jumped right into the life of Morgan and her family along with introducing new people when they were relevant. I wondered on a couple of occasions if there wasn’t a previous book that I should have read.

I did like the story and the unexpected pieces of the characters. Morgan is an awesomely powerful witch that leads her family to combat the demons that want to take over Austin. Morgan commands her cousins Art, Lance, and Gwen to infiltrate the demon’s gang. Art & Lance are young men that seem just laid back and accepting. Gwen is a bit of an emotional mixture, not sure what she wants or who she is. A story focusing on Gwen might be interesting. Along the way, Morgan finds Alex and knows him to be her love. Alex is head over heels for Morgan and doesn’t want to be separated from her or have her in danger.

The timeline seemed a little fast that everything happened in just a couple of weeks with some things happening immediately over a few days. Some things you would expect to take longer just naturally, but we are talking demons and witches so it could happen.

The hardest part of the book for me was the conversations. I couldn’t really pinpoint what didn’t work for me. Maybe it was personal preference, but the conversations seemed stilted and didn’t flow easily. If the conversations had flowed better for me, I would have given this a 4 star rating.

By the end Morgan discovers who she is and more about her family linage while battling the demons and why she’s so powerful. She also finds love with Alex and ends with Alex needing to find about who he is and his family linage. Again, this book is one that I could easily watch as a series on tv. If the other characters get their own books, I’ll be tuning in.

Angee was born in Houston, Texas in 1977, to an interesting family. Her mother and father separated when she was young. She lived with her mother who later remarried a wonderful man, who had a huge impact on her as she grew up. Angee has always had a love of reading, mostly paranormal. As a child, she would sneak up at late night when her mom thought she was sleeping, to read. They moved around a lot, eventually settling in Deep East Texas. Angee married at a young age and eventually divorced. She has raised her now 16 year old son alone. Angee works full time as a pre-hospital nurse and sometimes sees things that would make the rest of us have nightmares. On other days, she is blessed to see miracles. These things are what drive her to write.
Angee describes her job as- "I fight to save people's lives. Sometimes I lose, sometimes I win. It's the emotional roller coaster of that job, which leads me to writing. I'm able to put those emotions into my characters and let them out of my heart and soul."
In 2006, she was diagnosed with a rare disease, shortly after that she was told she would be on full disability in five years and most likely to be dead in ten. She's fought to live a normal life every day since and is beating those odds. She works at a demanding job, is a single mom, cares for an elderly mother, and a hyperactive dog.
