I am going to admit that I don't get or understand baseball but that's ok because neither does Evie here.
Evie meets pitcher Drew when she is really not at her best. She had just broken up with her long term boyfriend and is attending her best friend's birthday not looking her best. Instant chemistry between them but his arrogance is a turn off for her.
Drew is best known for his temper which has led to talk of him being traded. This he does not want and will do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening. Evie is his solution - a fake fiance, showing management that he has settled down.
Drew is severely tested in maintaining his cool under incredibly difficult circumstances. Evie though has a calming influence on his life, grounding him and all too soon it becomes something real between them.
I adored this read and these characters. I did not want it to end.
