Patrick has spent his adult life hiding from his past - a past that could destroy his future. In not getting involved in relationships, he is protecting them and himself from being hurt in more ways than one.
Erin has been raising her daughter alone after the death of her husband. Trying to develop her career alongside raising her daughter, Erin has made sacrifices along the way. Patrick is everything she shouldn't want or need but does. The attraction is immediate but both fight against it for differing reasons.
Whilst this started out as a gentle, character driven look at discovering relationships when least expected, it turns into an intense read as secrets are discovered and the past catches up to them. A thoroughly enjoyable read with characters you can totally relate to.
