When it comes to love there is no negotiating, you're either all in or you're not.
Carpenter, Martina doesn't do relationships, protecting herself from having her heart broken. If she doesn't let people in then she can't get hurt. On the opposite end is Senator, Paul who wants nothing more than to settle down with the woman he loves. He just needs to convince her to let down her walls. Whilst Martina can come across as cold and unfeeling, she is very passionate but is protecting herself from what she sees as a weakness.
The sparks certainly fly between Martina and Paul causing plenty of sizzle and heat throughout. It is interesting seeing Martina's walls slowly be chipped away, allowing her to face up to her fears. Paul's patience and determination to break down her walls comes in spite of his own issues.
A very sweet read but watch out for the sass from Martina as there is plenty of it.
