Review
Rating: 4.5*

This instalment in the series I connected with more.  To get a full understanding of the events that led to Cori's injuries, you do need to read 'Behind the Gate'.

Cori feels completely broken on the inside and the outside after the horrific events of the riot.  Permanently marked, she has escaped into herself as a protection mechanism.  Her new job at a Veteran's hospital should be so much safer and securer than her previous job.  She is determined to keep her head and get her job done, but the residents have other ideas and welcome her willingly into their lives.

Gage is a wounded soldier just as damaged as Cori from the horrific events of war.  Can these two help heal each other?

Their perspective of themselves was interesting as Cori sees herself as broken, while Gage sees himself as damaged and just needs the right person to help heal him.  This was more of an emotional read and quite graphic in places as Cori tries to pick up what's left of her life.  It was well written and I felt all the emotions that both Gage and Cori went through on their healing journey.
