"Black Dahlia" by Vivian Winslow
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Four days of crying haven't numbed the pain. It cuts as deep as it did seven years ago when she learned their daughter baby died. Now she is forced to let go of the man she believed was her forever, she's reliving the devastation all over again. Shane's friends flew in from all over the world to pay their respects. Dahlia has grown weary of the soothing words and hugs that bring little comfort. When Shane's mom cried in her arms, she only felt resentment. She wanted to be the only one to cry, not comfort. Sebastians grief runs nearly as deep as hers, their grief threatening to drown them at any moment. Dahlia never had a maternal figure in her life to talk to her about feelings. Her own mother couldn't even fake concern for Dahlia upon learning the news of Shane's death. Pearl told Dahlia that living is the best way to honor the dead. Dahlia decided that she was going to go on vacation with her sister Lily and Vi. Lily and Vi are going to go island hopping and they wanted to know if she wanted to go, she didn't and she stayed at the villa. Someone tries to break into the villa and she chases after him, she gets bit by a snake and Kaiaka takes her to the old woman.
Dahlia felt that she had to be strong in the face of this tragic accident. She is depressed.Sebastian told Dahlia about Shane drowning, blames himself for Shane's death and he is a surfer. Troy is Shane's older brother, pro- surfer and he is Shane's ideal.Pearl is Shane and Troy's mom, she is worried about Dahlia. Lily is Dahlia's sister, she wasn't there for her when she returned from California all those years ago. Vi is Lily and Dahlia's friend, she is very outspoken and oppionated. Kaiaka manages all the villa's on the island, took Dahlia to the old woman. Old woman is a healer.
