Title: Long Flight Home
Author: Cassandra Cripps
Genre: Slow Burn/Enemies to Lovers Romance
I live my life by rules – too many fucking rules. But, it's the only way. I messed up once. I slept with the wrong girl.
Never again.
The rules are my life, my guide. Until she walks in, and one by one, they all crumble.
She doesn’t slowly creep her way in like a worm. No, she soars in, like an eagle, refusing to be ignored and digging her claws into my heart. Leaving me vulnerable, wanting more.
Wanting her.
Gracie
Home. Happiness. The words used to mean something.
Until that night – over a decade ago. When they were stolen from me and my parents forced us to move.
Now, I'm back in Alaska, flying bush planes for Homer Air. And, I'll fight every step I take until they are real again. The only problem is the reclusive fisherman whom I can’t stop thinking about, despite us fighting every time I see him.
REVIEW
RATING: ☆☆☆☆
TK and Gracie's journey is a long and complicated one. The reader can anticipate the car crash that will happen when they realise who the other is. Their pasts are entwined but neither realise it.
In a time of the #metoo movement, this was an examination of the consequences of false accusations instead of being honest. This ends with TK having spent most of his adult life in jail and now he is home. It is clear from the beginning that he is innocent and TK has returned home to try and rebuild his life, keeping himself to himself.
Gracie has returned home after a long absence to start a job as a pilot in a small town and a company that is male dominated. Gracie has to work hard to prove herself. She is the quintessential wild child trying to settle down yet still has the wild child streak. The challenges that Alaska throws at her, she meets head on and wins every single time. The only time she might lose will be her heart to TK.
As the events of the past reveal themselves, TK goes up in my estimation as he is not bitter nor angry with what happened. He is restrained, yet graceful and strong. He is passionate, yet fights his attraction and the chemistry he has with Gracie.
This was not your typical read but it shone light on a subject that is rarely covered. It was interesting and set a stark background that added so much to the emotions of the book.
Amazon Review - “Beautiful place, heartbreaking story. Loved it!” Amazon Review - “Thought provoking story” Everything Bookish Blog - “It was so easy to get lost in this story. It’s emotionally impactful and beautifully detailed.”
Cassandra cusses like a sailor, is addicted to tattoos, hardcore music, and chocolate. Her kids believe that she is an actual vampire. Oh, and occasionally, she has been known to write a book or two when not busy in her garden.
Her novels straddle the line between taboo romance and romantic suspense. With themes as complex and varied as the author herself, they are sure to leave you on the edge of your seat.
