Synopsis
Brad Steel is in love. Daphne Wade is more than just his wife-to-be and the mother of his unborn child. She’s his destiny. Fate brought them together, and he vows to protect her. His determination doesn’t waver when he learns a secret about his bride—a secret she herself doesn’t know.

For the first time in a while, everything seems to be in sync for Daphne. She has loving parents, good friends, a man who adores her, a beautiful child growing inside her, and freedom from her anxiety and depression.

But is it an illusion?

When Brad is thrown into his family business sooner than he anticipates, he must divide his time among growing his legacy, keeping secrets, and solving unforeseen crimes. He’ll do anything to ensure Daphne’s safety and sanity.

Anything…no matter the cost.
Review
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆

Here we have the continuation of Daphne and Brad's story - the story that led the Steele family down the path that has been the Steel Brothers Saga.

'Fate' sees the reader empathising with Brad as his bad choices led him to the point he is at rather than being a bad person. This book is different. Whilst his decisions come from anger and the need to protect his family, they come from a place of dark and influenced by his father. A vicious circle begins that keeps on spiralling with devastating consequences.

On the other side of coin, the same events drive Daphne closer to mental ill health again. Instead of being around to support and help her, Brad is out seeking revenge. So much destruction and so many lives ruined for money and power.

Helen Hardt made a fantastic job in 'Fate' of making Brad likeable. This had to be done to ensure the reader is invested in his story. She had an even trickier job here, starting his descent into the man we have come to hate. Here I could still relate to him to a point but when he starts to ignore Daphne's needs is the point that he starts to lose my empathy.  Another fantastic addition to this series, particularly as I was uncertain what this part of the series could bring but it has surprised me and helps unravel the events that led to the Steel Brothers Saga. I am eager to see what surprises awaits us next.
