Cassidy
I always believed in fairy tales. So much so that I made a career out
of them. As a wedding planner, I made it my goal to perfect everyone else's
happily-ever-after. I even believed in finding mine once, too, until one man
left me alone and pregnant –crushing my dreams, and leaving me jaded.
Blake
I was living every man’s dream; I had the career I’d always wanted, my
soulmate in my corner, an adorable daughter, and a son on the way. Everything
was perfect until it wasn't. A series of unforeseen events tragically altered
my path. In the blink of an eye, I was left a widower and a single father of
two.
I wasn't seeking love again, but she found me. Now I just needed to
break down her walls and help her fall.
**This book can be read as a standalone.**
Review
Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆
Life is full of unforeseen circumstances that bring us this moment in time. Single parents Blake and Cassidy known this well having been through their share of unforeseen moments. It is these moments that have brought them into each other's lives. While Cassidy found herself pregnant and alone when her boyfriend walks out upon discovering her pregnancy, Blake's wife was taken from him in a tragic accident.
As these two come together and they heal together, there was a beautiful poignancy that is interspersed with humour that only children can bring with their brutal honesty and innocence. There was an interesting twist to this book that shows how life's events are so unforeseen.
I laughed and cried and laughed my way through this book. The children stole the show for me but I loved the way Cassidy tried to talk her way out of situations only to make things worse. I loved Blake's decisiveness and vulnerability. This was a triumph of excellent writing.
