Review of "Bet Me Something" By: Aubrey Bondurant

"Bet Me Something" By: Aubrey Bondurant
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

It starts with a bet but Kenzie has been in love with her brother's best friend, Colby for a long time.  She has been off limits to him but the time they spend together has him developing feelings for her.  Feeling unworthy and being told that he is constantly by her brother and his own, has Colby doubting everything about himself.

This was a bittersweet read and I felt complete empathy for Colby.  His confident exterior masks his insecurities, which come out as he tries to find his way with Kenzie: especially with those around him constantly reminding him of his mistakes and treating him as if he is unworthy.

Kenzie has her own battles to fight as her mother seeks to control her life.  Taking control of her life is not easy for her  but she does know that Colby is the man she wants and she will do everything to make this happen.

I really enjoyed this read and the tension that runs throughout it.  It was easy to get sucked into the characters' lives and even harder to leave them behind.  This was a well weaved story that had you aching for Kenzie and Colby and wanting to knock sense into those who put them down a lot.
