The ugly duckling had always been a swan…
Danielle Bryan has finished university and she is going back to her hometown. She missed her family and she had a new job she was looking forward to. She didn’t expect to ever see her childhood best friend again. They had lost touch but the connection was still there. Would their rekindled friendship lead to more?
This is my first book by this author and I admit to struggling a bit with it. The writing style was good with only a few grammatical issues. When they were younger, Danielle had a wonderful friend in Timmy. As they grew older she became part of the cheerleader/jock crowd while Timmy was not. Scenes describing the way he was treated in school were not shocking at all but I found Dani’s reaction, or lack of one, really disappointing. They reunite as adults and their relationship gets another chance. TJ doesn’t acknowledge Dani’s past treatment of him at all which I found really surprising. Saying that, their adult relationship seemed to start with a clean slate and they didn’t waste any time in pursuing it. The steam is plentiful as the two work hard on finding their happily ever after despite a few bumps along the way. I will be keeping an eye out for more by this author.
