When a protective ex-cop helps his gorgeous tenant through his recovery, their complicated history is asking for trouble. Will the fear of the past repeating itself destroy any possibility of happiness?

Daredevil drifter Lawrence Crawford is hunting for a place to call home. After ten years of looking, he believes he’s found what he’s been searching for. With a job that pays the bills and a small group of friends he’s opening up to, he lets down his guard. Perhaps too much so. Finding himself in need of support, Lawrence is forced to accept help from the one man who’s been driving him to distraction for the past year. His landlord.

Former cop Billy Hilton made a mistake—admittedly there’ve been many over the years. The latest is when he lets Lawrence believe he isn’t interested in pursuing anything with him. It’s not even the age difference or the fact the guy lives in Billy’s studio apartment that’s the problem. Instead, it’s all him. When Billy offers to play nursemaid to Lawrence, his intentions may not be pure, but they’re honest. And that honesty blows their lives wide open when Lawrence’s past comes knocking on the door, demanding changes and threatening an upheaval neither man may ever recover from.

Book five in Becca Seymour’s stand-alone low-angst, feel-good M/M romance series, True-blue. In this small town, there are busybodies, dogs who cause chaos, families who have the “best” of timing, and opportunities for good men to find their perfect match. This book can be read as a stand-alone.
Swoon-worthy low-angst contemporary M/M romances

REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆

Lawrence has had a thing for his landlord Billy from the moment he moved into the rooms above his garage. Just when he thinks that he is getting somewhere with Billy, Billy pulls back and breaks Lawrence's fragile heart.  Billy regrets his actions almost immediately and tries to break down the walls that Lawrence has built up after the rejection. It is a task that seems impossible but there is one very important trait about Billy and that is he doesn't give up when he sets his mind to something.

Lawrence is not one to trust easily and once his past is revealed, you understand why and appreciate the strength and courage he demonstrates. He is living his life his way. Billy is a natural protector. A former cop, you can understand this need. It is this side of Billy that could be the tipping point in his favour. Despite the difference in their ages, they fit together. They have both had a bumpy time on the road of life.

There was a sweetness about the relationship between Lawrence and Billy that was endearing and has you wanting them to have their HEA. They are there for the other throughout this book and through the challenges that they have to face. This was beautifully written, set in an incredibly supportive town. I thoroughly enjoyed this read.
