The twists and turns keep coming….

“Stay away from Mark and his penis,” she screamed at me.”

Cat fights, and not of the feline variety, or only a small sample of the twists and turns this second installment of the Brooklyn series takes. The killer that haunts Brooklyn, and in turn her family and friends, has never left and the stakes continue to get higher and higher. Mark has been her best friends for forever it seems but the danger that is ever-present has affected all the relationships Brooklyn has. This one perhaps the most. Going on the offensive may be the only weapon she has to end this once and for all, but will it end the way she wants it to?

This is the second installment of a three-story arc and the stakes continue to rise as the life-threatening danger strikes closer and closer. Brooklyn is trying to find her way through all this chaos always keeping in mind the well-being of those she loves. The drama is definitely in high gear here as the war she wages with herself, and her tormentor, drags everyone along in her wake. At times almost comical, when the cat fights do indeed break out, the underlying plot is always around death and murder which is no laughing matter. At times the light-heartedness and the somber tone of the story seem to clash as the highs and lows are ping-ponged back and forth.

Highly entertaining, if a bit bewildering at times, this series has definitely captured my attention. Ending in another unbelievably twisty cliff-hanger I really can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.

Up and coming author Elizabeth York has been writing for about seven years. Located in the southeast, she spends her days drinking sweet tea on the porch with her laptop in hand. She has devoted her life to her family and her books. With the loss of her Father to cancer in 2010 she makes "Dear Daddy" dedication pages in each book and donates 10% royalties to cancer research.
Take the time to get to know the characters and you will love them as much as she does.

Doozy of a cliffhanger…

Brooklyn Montgomery is starting her position as the new assistant district attorney and she’s busy settling into her new home and job. Mark Stone is a childhood friend, he used to be her best friend, who is not in charge of a serial killer case. They are going to work together so they need to work out their differences, fix the distance that has grown between them. There is drama galore as relationship woes, family and a murderous case all merge into a complicated storyline.

I’m so torn. The start of this story was really strong and then things seemed to go off the rails. Well-written, with some interesting twists, some of those twists seemed plucked out of left field. Dream sequences were very long and I don’t know how they fit into the larger story. Saying that, however, I am curious to see how the characters and their relationships play out. This must be the first of at least a two-story arc as there was a jaw-dropping cliffhanger. I am waiting with bated breath to find out what happens next.
