Wounded veteran. Best friend's sister.

Dayton has returned home from combat with a broken body and a broken mind. Feeling as though he doesn't deserve any help, especially as his best friend abandons him, he is almost at rock bottom. When he finds his way to a veteran's organisation, Summer, his best friend's sister and the woman he has always wanted, is his case worker. He fights her help in order to shield her from what he has become but she is persistent and has similar feelings for him.

There is much more to this than just a romance between soulmates getting their second chance. Dayton's past hasn't always been above board and comes back to haunt him putting them both in danger.

I became immersed in these characters and their journey very quickly always wanting to come back for more as quickly as I could. A really engaging and thoughtful story.
