Nate and Ryan were best friends and then Ryan leaves for a once in a lifetime opportunity on a basketball scholarship that leads to him becoming a professional player. Nate stays at home in Australia taking care of his family. Ryan ghosts Nate and his family for years until he discovers that his younger sister is pregnant and he starts to mend bridges with his family and his former best friend.
Nate is open about his sexuality and he took it hard when Ryan cut himself off having had feelings for him. The reasons behind Ryan isolating himself might just surprise Nate. It is obvious from the very beginning of this book that there is strong chemistry between Nate and Ryan. Ryan's struggles with his own sexuality and perception that comes with being a sportsman is palpable throughout. It is Nate's quiet confidence and unwavering support that builds Ryan's confidence in himself.
This was a sweet read that was character driven but two incredible characters. I loved how their two lives were linked together easily by gold star writing.
