The next generation continues with Donny and Callie.

Just when you think that the mystery surrounding the Steels has been revealed, there is still more to go. 

Donny has returned home to the ranch to work alongside his mother. Callie was supposed to be starting law school but the bush fire at the end of the last book, destroyed Callie's family ranch and the money was needed to rebuild. Stuck she seeks a job with Donny's mother and lands it. It has an additional perk of working with Donny who she has had a long term crush on.

There is some resentment amongst the town fold for what they see as the charmed Steel family, without fully knowing and understanding what they have been through. The fact is that the past is now haunting the next generation, who have no idea what the family legacy is.

Whilst I enjoyed Dale's story it was at a slow pace focussing on the way that he was feeling and how he came to terms with his past. This was much faster pace with more outside influence on the story, which got it moving swiftly. Donny is more of a doer compared to his brother who is thinker, which also impacted on the pace of the story.
