The end to his story has already been written…
Brad Steel made a promise to his wife and children—to create a legacy born from his love for them and his desire to protect them from harm. It was a worthy ambition…
But along the way, something went terribly wrong.
Daphne Steel loves her husband beyond measure and will stand by him no matter what, even when it’s more than she can deal with. She escapes when she must, still always putting Brad and their children first.
Mysteries deepen, secrets are unveiled, and Brad vows to continue to protect his family at all costs. But is the price too high? The lies and misdeeds get easier and easier, until he descends to a place he swore he’d never go.
There’s no turning back, though, and his actions have consequences—for those he did everything to protect.
REVIEW
Rating: ☆☆☆☆
I absolutely love this series and Brad and Daphne's story was never going to be easy to write because of everything we know from the previous instalments. Helen Hardt has done a really good job of weaving their story and making me forget at times that Brad is not a nice guy. Throughout his decisions have been about saving his family but every now and again it is about saving himself and you are brought back to earth with a bump in your opinion of him.
For me, this was not my favourite at all. There were significant events that took place here that I was hoping to find out more about the impact on Daphne and the rationale behind Brad's actions but I was left disappointed and not really knowing much more than I already knew.
That being said it was well written and invoked a lot of emotion. I felt for Daphne and her struggles and how she protected herself from outside dangers. Brad was always on the back foot and one step behind, unable to fully protect his family. He was human after all.
I am intrigued to see where Helen Hardt takes this series next.
